After WWII, Murano (Venice) re-established itself as the world centre for studio and luxury glass, with makers exploring clean modernist silhouettes, bold blocks of colour, and technical showpieces that highlighted the skill of the furnace. From the 1950s–70s (the “mid‑century” era), cased glass and bubble inclusions became popular because they amplify light and make colour appear to “float” inside the object—perfect for the era’s taste for sculptural, minimalist décor.
Heart motifs also surged in decorative arts again in the late 20th century (especially 1970s–90s) as playful “pop” forms entered interiors—so while the listing calls it mid-century, this exact style is also very common in later Murano-style production.
